Rachael Sage & The Sequins revisit the songs of 2025’s Canopy on Under My Canopy, reshaping them with acoustic instrumentation and fresh arrangements that bring their messages of hope, resilience and connection into sharper focus. Moving through Americana, pop and neo-folk, Sage gives the material a warmer, more intimate setting while preserving the melodic character and optimism at its core.

Produced by Sage with Grammy-nominated engineer and bassist Mikhail Pivovarov, the album brings together longtime members of the Sequins with an impressive group of guests. Cellist Dave Eggar, violinist Kelly Halloran, harmonica player Trina Hamlin and drummer Andy Mac are joined by guitarists Christie Lenée, Ben Butler, James Mastro and Jack Petruzzelli, along with David Krakauer, Rob Curto, Cassandra Kubinski, Kristen Ford and others.

“Just Enough (Acoustic)” opens the album with Sage’s acoustic guitar alongside Eggar’s cello and percussion from Quinn, while “Canopy (Acoustic)” features Kristen Ford in an arrangement centered on inclusiveness, equality and non-violence. “Underneath (Acoustic),” featuring Kubinski, takes on the subject of gun violence, while “Nexus (Acoustic)” receives a sensitive new arrangement emphasizing the song’s themes of acceptance and community.

The 15-track collection also includes Rachael Sage and the Sequins’ playful acoustic interpretation of Buddy Holly’s “Everyday,” featuring finger cymbals, handclaps, violin, cello and guitar from Lenée. Chamber versions of “Just Enough” and “Everyday” close out an album that shows how effectively Sage’s songs can change shape while retaining the ideas and emotions that inspired them in the first place.
