Rachael Sage & the Sequins deliver Canopy, a soulful blend of Americana, pop, and neo-folk that radiates hope, empathy, and inclusiveness in a time that needs it most.

Rachael Sage & the Sequins spread light through the storm on their new album Canopy, an uplifting and deeply human collection that bridges the personal and the political with heart and craft. Across its 12 tracks, the NYC-based band have built a refuge of sound that blends Americana, pop, and neo-folk with songs rooted in empathy, equality, and the kind of optimism that feels hard-won.

Following Sage’s acclaimed recent releases The Other Side and Another Side, this album marks her first full-band outing under the Rachael Sage & the Sequins name. Produced by Sage with Grammy nominee Mikhail Pivovarov and mixed by Pivovarov alongside Grammy winner Andy Zulla (Rod Stewart), Canopy features a dream lineup that includes violinist Kelly Halloran, drummer Andy Mac, harmonica player Trina Hamlin, and cellist Ward Williams. Guest appearances from James Mastro, Jack Petruzzelli, and Rob Curto round out a record brimming with warmth, purpose, and connection.

The title track “Canopy” is an anthem of radical inclusivity, pacifism, and environmental hope built on one of Sage’s most memorable melodies. “Just Enough” captures the group’s feel-good Americana-pop energy, a burst of horns, Hammond organ, and handclaps channeling '60s sunshine with modern grace. “Live It Up” follows suit with a vibrant piano groove and lyrics urging unity in turbulent times: “There ain’t no way to heaven ‘til we get there all equal.”

As NPR Music has pointed out, “Sage has created an eclectic body of work that’s witty, graceful, and powerfully intimate,” while Billboard praised her “quirky sense of the profound.” Canopy lives up to that reputation, weaving chamber folk textures, stirring harmonies, and heartfelt lyrics into songs that radiate care and conviction.

“I wanted to create an album focused on inclusiveness, acceptance, safety, and empathy,” Sage explains. “When I recorded these songs with my band The Sequins, it felt like a metaphor. They’ve been a shelter and safe place for me. You can hear that connection in every note.”

Available in a limited edition bespoke concertina hardcover book and slipcase featuring 40 panels of original paintings, photos, and the full album on CD, beautifully capturing the visual and musical essence of Rachael Sage’s latest work. The special edition vinyl is pressed on opaque orange wax with a full-color insert and sleeve showcasing Sage’s original artwork and photography.
