Seas The Night finds Yächtley Crëw delivering a boat load of smooth-rock classics and a Diane Warren-penned original with the same joyful energy that has made them the reigning torchbearers of yacht rock.
Yächtley Crëw, the self-proclaimed “Titans of Soft Rock,” return with Seas The Night, an album that celebrates the golden era of ’70s and ’80s hits while introducing a brand-new original written by one of pop’s most decorated songwriters. Known for their buoyant live shows and larger-than-life stage presence, the Southern California seven-piece bring that same high-energy charm to their latest release.
Seas The Night features fresh takes on classics like “Hold the Line,” “Come and Get Your Love,” and “Magic,” capturing the mix of nostalgia and fun that has made the band a global draw. “This album captures the spirit of a Yächtley Crëw performance, joyful, explosive, and unapologetically smooth. We’re proud to be the torchbearers of Yacht Rock, and this record is our biggest love letter to the genre yet,” the band shared.
At the heart of the album is the brand new single “Pain of Losing You,” written by the legendary Diane Warren. Yächtley Crëw recalled how it came together: “Our new song ‘Pain of Losing You’ was written by none other than the legendary songwriter Diane Warren, and it’s a fun story of how it came about. We heard through our manager Andy Gould that Diane was a fan of Yächtley Crëw and loves the genre yacht rock. When Andy was speaking with her about our upcoming album, she told him that she had a song she thought would be a perfect fit in the yacht rock genre and for Yächtley Crëw to record as an original."
Chris Lord-Alge, a Grammy-winning studio force behind artists like Stevie Nicks, Bruce Springsteen, and Green Day, handled production and mixing, while Ted Jensen, famed for his work on Hotel California, mastered the record. Lord-Alge praised the group’s precision, saying, “It was a pleasure working on an original song with the band, thank you Diane for such a great one."
“Pain of Losing You” follows the Crëw’s recent single, a cover of Boz Scaggs’ “Lowdown,” which came paired with a video spotlighting their sold-out international shows. The band has been touring relentlessly, fresh off an Australian run and currently in the middle of the third leg of their Seas The Night tour.
Yächtley Crëw are Phillip Daniel (Philly Ocean) on lead vocals, Rob Jones (Sailor Hawkins) on drums, Chaz Ruiz (Baba Buoy) on bass, Thomas Gardner Jr. (Tommy Buoy) on guitar, Curt Clendenin (Stoney Shores) on backing vocals, Paul Pate (Pauly Shores) on saxophone and flute, and Matt Grossman (Matthew McDonald) on keyboards. Together, they are steering their yacht full-speed ahead, determined to prove that smooth rock is alive, well, and ready for a new generation of fans.
