Vlad In Tears' Hide Inside marks the tenth studio album from the Italian-born, Berlin-based trio of brothers Kris (vocals/piano), Lex (guitar), and Dario (bass) Vlad. Rooted in gothic metal but never content to color inside the lines, the band continues to evolve their sound, melding dark wave, industrial rock, and modern metal into something both cinematic and visceral.
The new album explores themes of personal demons, mythology, and the unseen forces that shape our lives. “It’s about the spirits and energies we carry within us,” says frontman Kris, whose voice remains the band’s emotional center. “We wanted to capture what it feels like to confront your own darkness—and maybe find a bit of light in the process.”
Since relocating to Germany in 2013, Vlad In Tears have steadily built a cult following across Europe, landing TV spots, festival stages (M’era Luna, Rock Harz, Castle Rock), and a European tour with the 69 Eyes. They’ve collaborated with icons like John Fryer (Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails) and Lex from Megaherz, and reimagined Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” with goth-glam flair. But Hide Inside is their most ambitious effort yet, a bold, melodic plunge into the unknown.
While Relapse, their 2024 album, leaned into vulnerability, this one pushes further, fusing haunting melodies with raw power. From cavernous riffs to fragile piano lines, every track feels like a step deeper into the psyche.
Vlad In Tears may not be a household name outside of Europe yet, but Hide Inside makes a compelling case that their moment is coming. And when it does, it won’t be quiet.
