Celebrating four decades of fuzz-drenched guitar noise disguised as boundary-pushing pop songs, the Jesus and Mary Chain mark the milestone with the release of Glasgow Eyes.

Recorded at Mogwai’s Castle of Doom studio in their hometown of Glasgow, Glasgow Eyes clearly sees JAMC continuing the improbable journey that began in 1985 with the release of Psychocandy. For brothers Jim and William Reid, the creative process behind the new album echoes the same spirit of experimentation and spontaneity that defines that revered debut. Yet, as they venture into their twilight, they’ve evolved, drawing inspiration from eclectic sources such as Suicide, Kraftwerk, not to mention the freewheeling spirit of jazz.

Jim Reid offers insight into the album's genesis, emphasizing that while their influences may have expanded, the core essence of the JAMC sound remains unchanged. "But don’t expect ‘the Mary Chain goes jazz,’" he warns. "People should expect a Jesus and Mary Chain record, and that’s certainly what Glasgow Eyes is." It's a reaffirmation of where they’ve been and who they’ve become, serving as a bridge between past and present but still grounded in the unbridled energy and experimentation that fueled their early records. The Reid brothers have always remained steadfast in their refusal to compromise, carving out a distinct identity as the misfits who made good on their own terms.

Within the cacophony of melody, feedback, and controlled chaos that defines their sound, there is a sense of homecoming on Glasgow Eyes, a band who can both return to their roots while also being pioneers looking to discover something new. With each track, it’s clear that JAMC’s creative well shows no signs of running dry, so come with them to the depths of their musical psyche and unearth new layers with every riff and rhythm.
