Tasha Cobbs Leonard returns to her live gospel roots on Tasha Unscripted, capturing the spontaneous energy and communal spirit that have made her one of contemporary gospel’s most powerful voices.

Tasha Cobbs Leonard returns to the setting where she has always been at her most powerful on Tasha Unscripted, a new live album built around spontaneity, community, and the unpredictable energy of worship unfolding in real time.

Recorded live in Atlanta earlier this year, Tasha Unscripted follows 2025’s TASHA, Cobbs Leonard’s first studio album after more than a decade of predominantly live recordings. Where that record gave her room to explore gospel alongside R&B, hip-hop, and pop, Tasha Unscripted brings her back into a room full of people and allows the music to go wherever the moment takes it.

The result brings together new music, familiar favorites, spontaneous worship, and an impressive group of guests. Jonathan McReynolds, Mickey Guyton, Karen Clark Sheard, Kierra Sheard-Kelly, Le'Andria Johnson, William Murphy, Israel Houghton, and others join Cobbs Leonard throughout the evening. Among the highlights is “Gracefully Broken/Who The Son Sets Free,” featuring Houghton, which connects two worship songs in a performance that moves naturally from surrender toward celebration.

That freedom is at the heart of the project. Rather than approaching the recording as a tightly controlled concert, Cobbs Leonard wanted the songs to have room to expand and the audience to become part of what was happening. It is a format that plays directly to one of her greatest strengths: her ability to turn a performance into a shared experience.

Tasha Unscripted also reconnects Cobbs Leonard with the live recordings that helped establish her as one of contemporary gospel’s defining voices. Raised in Jesup, Georgia, she broke through nationally with Grace and its platinum-selling “Break Every Chain,” which earned her a Grammy Award. Since then, albums including One Place Live, Heart. Passion. Pursuit., Royalty: Live at the Ryman, and Hymns have helped make her a dominant presence in modern gospel and worship music.

After the carefully crafted intimacy of TASHA, Tasha Unscripted captures Cobbs Leonard doing something very different: trusting the room, the musicians, the congregation, and the moment to determine where the music goes next.
