Superchunk’s hotly anticipated new record Wild Loneliness continues to prove there is absolutely no slack in these motherf*ckers.

Wild Loneliness was recorded at home in North Carolina during lockdown and mixed by Wally Gagel (Cold War Kids, Jukebox The Ghost, Best Coast). The first single from the album, “Endless Summer,” features the harmonies of Teenage Fanclub’s Norman Blake and Raymond McGinley, while “On The Floor,” one of bassist Laura Ballance’s favorites from the album, features backup vocals from R.E.M.’s Mike Mills and piano from Franklin Bruno.

In addition to McGinley, Blake, and Mills, Wild Loneliness features guest spots from Sharon Van Etten, Wye Oak’s Andy Stack, Tracyanne Campbell of Camera Obscura, Owen Pallett, and Kelly Pratt.

As poet Maggie Smith describes the record, “After the (ahem, completely justifiable) anger of 2018’s What A Time To Be Alive, Wild Loneliness is less about what we’ve lost in these harrowing times and more about what we have to be thankful for.”

Lucky hometown fans in North Carolina can pick up Wild Loneliness at their favorite local independent record shop on pink & green “watermelon” vinyl along with a free 12”×12” print designed by Ron Liberti. The exclusive NC edition is limited to 400 copies.
