Whiplash was the winner of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival's Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award. The Whiplash soundtrack consists of 24 tracks sequenced in 3 distinct parts: original jazz songs written for the film, original score, and classic jazz standards by Stan Getz and Duke Ellington. Snippets of dialog, (a la Pulp Fiction), are included to sum up the narrative of this award winning film about the travails of a 19 year old jazz drummer. Whiplash is being released on Oct 10th by Sony Picture Classics. Early press is calling this the best soundtrack score of the year.
