Sophie Ellis-Bextor returns with Perimenopop, a sparkling celebration of confidence, freedom, and her signature dance-pop sound 25 years into her career.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor is starting a new chapter with her eighth studio album, Perimenopop. The long-player is a vibrant celebration of self-assurance, joy, and the creative freedom she's earned over a 25-year career, bringing her back to the glittering dance-pop sound that first made her a household name.

The album features recent singles “Freedom of the Night,” “Relentless Love,” “Vertigo,” and “Taste,” alongside the luminous “Dolce Vita,” co-written with Karma Kid, Baz Kaye, and Clementine Douglas. With lush strings and breezy synths, the song builds into a soaring chorus about reinvention and escape, inspired by the way a new place can allow someone to feel brand new. Ellis-Bextor describes it as “the nostalgic pull of a foreign trip where you really got to escape for a little while.”

Perimenopop reflects both Ellis-Bextor’s past and present. “Freedom Of The Night” ushered in this era with a confident nod to her roots, reuniting her with video collaborator Sophie Muller in a playful homage to her iconic “Murder On The Dancefloor.” The single capped off 2024 with a performance during her BBC New Year’s Eve Disco show, underscoring her ongoing bond with disco-inspired pop.

Few artists have managed a career as enduring and multifaceted as Ellis-Bextor’s. Since her 2001 breakout hit “Murder on the Dancefloor,” she's earned five Top 10 albums, eight Top 10 singles, and, of course, the viral resurgence when “Murder On The Dancefloor” was featured in the 2023 film Saltburn. The track re-entered charts worldwide, hitting No. 2 in the UK and landing the singer a performance in Times Square on New Year’s Eve. The resurgence made it the biggest song of 2024 for a British female artist.

Outside of music, Sophie has written a memoir, released a cookbook with her husband Richard Jones, hosted a long-running podcast, and brought her Kitchen Disco parties from lockdown screens to sold-out tours. And she was honored with the Best Female award at the Nordoff and Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards.

With Perimenopop, Sophie Ellis-Bextor embraces her history while radiating the energy of someone fully at ease with herself, creating a record that feels both classic and completely in the moment.
