Ray Charles’ 1963 classic Ingredients In A Recipe For Soul is finally back in print, fully restored and remastered after decades of bootlegs and scarcity.
Ray Charles’ Ingredients In A Recipe For Soul returns with its first and only legitimate reissue on vinyl, and for the first time on CD since the ’90s. Originally released in 1963, the album broke into the Top Ten on the strength of two hit singles, “Busted” and “That Lucky Old Sun.”
By this point in his career, Charles wasn’t playing inside the lines of genre. Country, jazz, blues, pop, and standards may have made up the raw materials, but in his hands, they fused into something unmistakably his own. As the title suggests, these were ingredients, and what came out of the oven was pure Ray Charles.
Bootlegged in Europe for decades, this long-overdue reissue is fully restored and remastered with the cooperation of the Ray Charles Foundation, finally giving fans a proper way to experience one of his essential albums.
