The mighty Rage are back with their new album A New World Rising, a record that puts positivity at the center of their trademark thrash power. The album arrives two years after the darker Afterlifelines and finds Peavy Wagner, Jean Bormann, and Vassilios “Lucky” Maniatopoulos channeling energy, optimism, and sheer creativity into what the band calls their most diverse set of songs to date.
“The world is drowning in negativity and fear, and much of it is being manipulated,” says Wagner. “Our message is simple: think independently and don’t believe everything you’re told.” That perspective drives A New World Rising, recorded at the band’s Lucky Bob Studios in Leverkusen, Germany, where Rage captured eleven fresh tracks (plus intro and a bonus one) that are both direct and playful, catchy yet multi-faceted. Wagner emphasizes that there are no orchestrations this time, but the essence of Rage is intact and expanded, making for one of their most spirited records in years.
The album was preceded by a string of singles that highlight the album’s range. "Freedom" lead the charge as an uptempo anthem about life’s core values, followed by "Innovation," a thrash-fueled opener designed to ignite optimism. And then there's "Fire In Your Eyes," Wagner’s “declaration of love to all metal fans,” celebrating the unity and resilience of the community.
For Wagner, the album is a reflection of the band’s chemistry and momentum. “The lineup has developed excellently, and it’s been a long time since we’ve had so much fun with Rage,” he says. That joy translates into an album that is heavy, melodic, and uplifting, pushing back against the gloom of the times. When Rage hit the road in support of A New World Rising, the shows are set to be nothing short of triumphant.
