Taylor Momsen and the Pretty Reckless crash the holidays with a tight, moody EP that wraps attitude and seasonal bite into one fierce package.

Taylor Momsen has come full circle. Twenty-five years after she sang “Where Are You Christmas?” as Cindy Lou Who in How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the Pretty Reckless frontwoman is back in the holiday spotlight with Taylor Momsen’s Pretty Reckless Christmas, a sharp, moody, and surprisingly cohesive holiday EP. What began as a single song turned into a seven-track set built around nostalgia, grit, and the band’s unmistakable rock pulse.

Momsen leans into the moment. The EP opens with a clip of her childhood vocal before roaring into a modern interpretation that pulls the familiar melody out of the Whoville snowfall and plants it firmly under arena lights. From there, the band follows their instincts rather than tradition. “I Wanna Be Your Christmas Tree” tilts playful and raw. “Christmas Is Killing Me” hits that dark sweet spot the Pretty Reckless built their career on. “Blues On Christmas” drifts into smoky late-night territory, and the closing reprise brings everything back to that original question she asked as an eleven-year-old: why can’t she find Christmas.

Collectors get plenty to put on their Christmas lists. Limited vinyl pressings in green smoke, red-white-black splatter, and other variants come with gatefold sleeves, fold-out posters, and a signed art print on select editions. The CD arrives in a soft pack with an eight-page booklet and poster.

The bigger story sits between the songs. Momsen took an iconic childhood moment and reframed it in her own voice, surrounded by the band she built and the sound she owns. For a group known for hard riffs and bleak confessionals, stepping into Christmas might seem unexpected, but that tension fuels the EP. It feels personal, cathartic, and strangely fitting for a singer who has always walked the line between innocence and fire.
