Paul Simon’s The Quiet Celebration Concert captures his return to the stage with fresh takes on songs spanning his career.

Paul Simon captures one of the most remarkable chapters of his career on The Quiet Celebration Concert, a nearly two-hour live album documenting his return to the stage and the inspired new arrangements that came with it. Recorded at McCaw Hall in Seattle during his acclaimed A Quiet Celebration tour, the collection captures Simon performing with a remarkable ensemble and reimagining songs from throughout his career.

The concert begins with Seven Psalms, Simon’s 33-minute continuous work from 2023, performed live in its entirety. Originally created largely with acoustic instruments and conceived as a single uninterrupted piece, Seven Psalms became the catalyst for Simon’s return to performing after hearing loss had made his future onstage uncertain.

From there, Simon opens up his extraordinary songbook with arrangements created specifically for these concerts. “Graceland,” “Slip Slidin’ Away,” “Homeward Bound,” “The Boxer,” “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover” and “The Sound of Silence” sit alongside deeper selections including “The Late Great Johnny Ace,” “St. Judy’s Comet,” “Rewrite,” “Spirit Voices” and “The Cool, Cool River.” “Under African Skies” features Edie Brickell joining Simon for a duet.

The performances are backed by an exceptional ensemble featuring Steve Gadd, Bakithi Kumalo, Mark Stewart, Andy Snitzer, Jamey Haddad, Mick Rossi, Gyan Riley, Nancy Stagnitta, Caleb Burhans and Eugene Friesen. Rather than simply recreating familiar recordings, Simon and the band reshape songs from across his career to fit the intimate character of the show.

The album also serves as a companion to The Quiet Celebration Concert film, which debuted on Disney+ and Hulu in June. Together, they document an unexpected and deeply rewarding return to live performance for Simon, connecting the reflective music of Seven Psalms with songs stretching across more than six decades. The result is a live album that shows Paul Simon still finding new possibilities inside music audiences have known for years.
