On Made You Look, Patrick Droney pairs soulful vocals and expressive guitar with personal reflections on love and growing older, featuring a duet with Kelsea Ballerini.

Patrick Droney takes a closer look at the life unfolding around him on Made You Look, a twelve-song collection about growing older, finding connection, and recognizing the significance of everyday moments. Bringing together his soulful voice, expressive guitar playing, and thoughtful pop songwriting, the singer, songwriter, and producer gives personal reflection an inviting, expansive sound.

Following State Of The Heart and Subtitles for Feelings, Droney’s third album arrives after a period of change that included becoming a father. Those experiences inform a record concerned with how we spend our time and who we spend it with. “Coming of a Certain Age” gets to the heart of that uncertainty, examining the distance between the person you expected to become and the one you’re learning to understand.

“Back In My Body” offers a joyful expression of rediscovery. Written alone in an attic with his guitar, the song turns an inward-looking moment into an uplifting invitation to reconnect with yourself. Kelsea Ballerini joins Droney on “Math of Us,” a ballad that considers the uncomfortable truth that accumulating years together doesn’t guarantee having enough time. Her contribution makes that conversation a shared one, giving its emotional questions another voice.

Droney also opens the studio to collaborators who bring distinct strengths to the arrangements. The National’s Bryan Devendorf plays drums on “Manhattan” and “Fear of Missing You,” while Davide Rossi supplies strings for “Manhattan,” “Life’s a Party,” and “Coming of a Certain Age.” “Cigarette Break,” co-written with longtime friend Stephen Wilson Jr., features Wilson’s nylon-string guitar. Co-production from Konrad Snyder and mixing by Jonathan Low help complete the record.

Throughout Made You Look, Patrick Droney gives close attention to experiences that can slip past before we understand their value. Love, uncertainty, and the passage of time provide the material, with songs that invite listeners to consider the details of their own lives along the way.
