Orianthi celebrates 25 years with Some Kind of Feeling, a ten-track blend of soulful '60s-'70s influenced rock, searing guitar work, and standout collaborations including Joe Bonamassa.
Orianthi is marking her 25th year in the business with Some Kind of Feeling, a new album that finds her back in the musical territory that first sparked her passion. Recorded, written, and produced at the Doors guitarist Robby Krieger’s Love Street Sound studio, the project blends her electrifying guitar work with the warm, organic feel of late '60s and '70s rock era.
The ten-track set features nine originals and a cover of ZZ Top’s “Sharp Dressed Man.” Orianthi shares production duties with Kevin "The Caveman" Shirley (Hoodoo Gurus, Joe Bonamassa, Iron Maiden) on several tracks, while others she produced herself. Known for her high-octane performances with artists from Michael Jackson to Alice Cooper, here she leans into a looser, more soulful groove, letting the songs breathe without losing the fretboard fireworks that have defined her career.
Standouts include the title track’s smooth, soulful swing, the upbeat pop-rock anthem “Attention,” and the slow-burn ballad “Ghost,” where piano and guitar share equal emotional weight. “First Time Blues” features a fiery guest appearance by Joe Bonamassa, while “Bad for Each Other” digs into gritty blues with heavy groove and unapologetic attitude. Her take on “Sharp Dressed Man” offers a swaggering vocal delivery and two blistering solos that rival the original.
Critics are already taking notice. Velvet Thunder called it “the latest and greatest part of Orianthi’s impressive contemporary rock and roll journey,” while Classic Rock: Louder Sound praised her “sweetly breezy yet biting blues rock guitar stride” and “rich, sun-kissed vocals.” Blues Rock Review hailed it as an outstanding blend of pop, country, soul, blues, and rock, noting how each track feels both timeless and fresh.
For Orianthi, Some Kind of Feeling is more than a celebration of her anniversary. It is a creative reawakening, a chance to reconnect with her roots while pushing her artistry forward. It shows she remains one of the most dynamic guitarists of her generation, still evolving and still leading with passion.
