The Wow! Signal captures Muse doing what they've always done best, turning paranoia into poetry, technology into texture, and rock music into something larger than life.

For more than three decades, Muse have found a way of making the apocalypse sound exhilarating. Arena-worthy riffs, dystopian visions, and enough sci-fi bombast to power a blockbuster movie have become the English trio's calling card. With The Wow! Signal, Muse prove they still know how to turn existential anxiety into stadium rock spectacle.

Leading the charge is the explosive first single, "Unravelling," the band's first new music since 2022's Will Of The People. After weeks of cryptic teasers fueled online speculation, the track made its live debut during an intimate warm-up show in Helsinki before erupting in front of 50,000 fans at Finland's Rockfest. The moment confirmed what longtime fans already knew. Muse hadn't lost their taste for grand entrances.

"Unravelling" distills everything that has made Matt Bellamy, Dominic Howard, and Chris Wolstenholme one of modern rock's most distinctive acts. It opens with ghostly, cascading synthesizers that slowly tighten the tension before detonating into a barrage of razor-edged guitars and one of Bellamy's signature sky-scraping choruses. The song shifts easily between electronic ambition and crushing hard rock, another reminder that Muse remain masters of controlled excess. The rest of The Wow! Signal follows the path laid out by its lead single, another ambitious fusion of prog rock, industrial menace, and towering hooks. Muse have always thrived by refusing to do what’s expected of them, and their willingness to give the finger to any single genre continues to separate them from nearly every band capable of filling a stadium.

The trio hardly has anything left to prove. Since forming in 1994, Muse have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, earned multiple Grammy Awards, and delivered seven consecutive No. 1 albums in the U.K. Their 2015 album Drones captured the Grammy for Best Rock Album, while Will Of The People extended an astonishing streak of chart dominance across the globe. Muse continue reaching for the stars, armed with massive riffs, bigger ideas, and absolutely no interest in playing it safe.
