Miley is entering another new era with Bass Persuades, her tenth studio album and the follow-up to 2025’s Something Beautiful. This time, even the name on the cover signals a change. Professionally dropping Cyrus and going simply by Miley, she arrives with a record built around the physical and emotional pull of music itself.

The title track provided the first glimpse, pushing Miley toward a bass-heavy, club-ready sound with a restless dance beat and her unmistakable rasp riding above it. She has explained the album’s title in terms of the power music has to take hold of us, whether we’re singing, dancing, dealing with heartache or simply trying to carry on. That idea runs through a project that appears determined to put rhythm and instinct front and center.

Bass Persuades features collaborations with New York art-punk band Model/Actriz on “Different Religion” and Andrew Wyatt of Miike Snow on “Neon Signs.” Elsewhere, titles including “Let’s Get Married,” “Orbit,” “Aftermath,” “REDLIGHTS,” “Innocent Ways” and “Snow” hint at the different moods Miley explores across the record.

The album follows a particularly active stretch for Miley. Something Beautiful arrived in 2025, followed by an expanded edition featuring David Byrne and Lindsey Buckingham, while her recent work has continued to move between pop, rock and dance music. Bass Persuades also marks her first album for Atlantic Records.

With Bass Persuades, Miley continues a career defined by refusing to stay in one place for long. The voice is instantly recognizable, but the setting keeps changing, and this time the beat is doing the persuading.
