Miles Kane returns with Sunlight In The Shadows, his first release on Easy Eye Sound and a powerful new chapter in his solo career. Teaming up with Dan Auerbach, Kane delivers a record that feels both immediate and revitalized. Co-written with Auerbach, Patrick Carney, Daniel Tashian, and Pat McLaughlin, the album leans into tight grooves, chiming guitars, and Kane’s signature mix of swagger and sincerity. Standout tracks like “Love Is Cruel,” “I Pray,” and “Electric Flower” showcase a new creative chemistry between Kane and his collaborators, rooted in classic rock but polished with Easy Eye’s modern edge.
Born in 1986 in Merseyside, Kane first found his footing as a teenage guitarist in the Little Flames before forming the Rascals, whose 2008 debut Rascalize introduced his sharp songwriting instincts and knack for melody. Around the same time, his friendship with Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys sparked the Last Shadow Puppets, whose debut The Age of the Understatement debuted at number one and landed a Mercury Prize nomination. Their orchestral pop sound became a landmark moment in British indie music and expanded Kane’s reputation as a bold and magnetic performer.
His solo debut, 2011's Colour Of The Trap, arrived with a confident blend of glam-rock flair and sharp lyricism, followed by Don’t Forget Who You Are, which was produced by Lightning Seeds’ Ian Broudie. Each release reflected a restless artist chasing new sounds and ideas. Sunlight In The Shadows continues that evolution, but with a newfound ease and purpose.
Recorded in Nashville, the new album captures Kane’s raw energy in a fresh light. The interplay between his guitar work and Auerbach’s production adds depth and drive, framing songs that explore love, loss, and self-reflection without losing their punch.
