Michael Schenker’s Don’t Sell Your Soul is the latest chapter in his legendary career, a fierce and inspired record that showcases his unmatched guitar work and features a powerful guest performance from Robin McAuley.
Michael Schenker has never been one to compromise, and his new album Don’t Sell Your Soul is proof that his fire still burns at full intensity. From his first days as a teenage prodigy with Scorpions and his era-defining run with UFO, Schenker set a standard for hard rock guitarists that few have ever matched. When he formed the Michael Schenker Group in 1979, it gave him the freedom to shape heavy music on his own terms, and decades later MSG remains the canvas for his vision.
Don’t Sell Your Soul arrives as the second part of a trilogy Schenker began with My Years With UFO, which celebrated his deep history with the band that helped launch him to worldwide acclaim. That album was followed by a triumphant tour, and now this next chapter finds him pushing forward with just as much force. The final piece of the trilogy is set for 2026, but this installment stands firmly on its own, capturing the vitality and ferocity that continue to define his career.
For this album, Schenker surrounded himself with a trusted circle. Drummer Bodo Schopf, bassist Barend Courbois, and Steve Mann on keys provide the backbone, while Erik Grönwall, the former Skid Row frontman, takes the lead vocals with a performance that proves why he’s considered one of the finest rock singers of his generation. The lineup is further bolstered by appearances from Robin McAuley, Dimitri “Lia” Liapakis, and Michael Voss, adding range and grit to the record’s vocal power.
Michael Schenker’s playing is as sharp and inspired as ever, filled with the melodic bite and technical command that made his solos legendary. He has never been one to follow trends, and Don’t Sell Your Soul is another reminder that he continues to carve his own path, unshaken by time or changing fashions. At nearly fifty years since MSG began, Schenker remains not only a benchmark but a torchbearer for hard rock and metal.
