Massive Wagons plant a flag with Live At The Great Hall, capturing two sold-out hometown shows in a venue that hadn’t hosted a rock crowd in decades.

They have earned that moment the hard way. From 2012’s Fire It Up through Full Nelson and 2022’s Triggered!, the Lancashire band have put in the miles, tightening their grip on hook-heavy, no-frills rock that lands with both weight and immediacy. It’s a sound rooted in classic bombast but sharpened by modern production and a band that knows exactly who they are.

Recorded across two sold-out nights on September 19 and 20, 2025, Live At The Great Hall carries more than just performance value. Lancaster University’s Great Hall had sat dormant for decades, once a stop for acts like the Who, Black Sabbath, and Queen before fading into memory. Bringing it back to life in their hometown gave the shows a sense of purpose that runs through every track.

You can feel it in the way the band locks in, but just as much in the crowd. This isn’t a carefully assembled live release. It’s loud, direct, and driven by that push and pull between stage and floor that Massive Wagons have built their name on.

Guitarist Adam Thistlewaite had been circling the idea of a live album for years, but these shows finally made it make sense. “We’ve been knocking around the idea of a live album for years now, but the time has never felt right,” he says. “In these Lancaster University Great Hall shows, we have a great story in bringing live music back to an iconic venue and our live shows have been taken to another level after the heavy touring of the last few years. We love making studio albums, but the live energy, the passion of the crowd, it’s what we do it for ultimately, so this is going to be special.”
