Lights breaks new ground on A6, a record that feels like a homecoming and a step into the unknown all at once, a celebration of who she’s been, and who she’s still becoming.

Lights has always existed somewhere between worlds, an artist whose sound slides effortlessly through alt-pop, indie, synthwave, and beyond. With A6, she digs even deeper into her kaleidoscopic universe, taking grief, love, growth, and discovery and putting it all together into a lush, intimate collection of sound.

Written and produced entirely from her home in British Columbia, A6 feels both universal and personal, like paging through a secret journal set to music. Pulling cues from midwest emo, '80s new wave, and angular synth-pop, Lights folds years of life experience into songs that pulse with a diary-like honesty. Berlin’s ever-shifting energy also leaves its mark here, sneaking into the album’s dark wave undertones and even a few lines of German lyrics.

Lights previewed A6 with the life-affirming “Alive Again” and the brooding teaser “Damage,” hinting at the emotional range of songs to come. The dual single release of “White Paper Palm Trees” and “Surface Tension” came next and drove the point home… A6 doesn't pick a lane, he swerves through all of them. “I couldn’t decide which song to release because I feel like both appeal to such different sides of the fan base,” Lights explained. Instead, she dropped them both, complete with self-directed videos designed to interact when played side-by-side , a clever nod to the album’s themes of duality and self-exploration.

It’s this restless creativity that’s kept Lights at the forefront of alt-pop for over a decade. Whether selling out tours across continents, working with heavyweights like Travis Barker, deadmau5, and Mike Shinoda, or making waves from Coachella to Comic-Con, Lights has built an empire fueled by fearlessness. She’s a singer, producer, DJ, comic book creator, and most importantly, always herself. On A6, Lights doesn’t just tell her story, she invites you to find your own in the static, the neon, and the spaces in between.
