King Princess claws her way back with Girl Violence, a feral and fearless third album born from heartbreak, reinvention, and the thrill of taking full control.

King Princess returns with Girl Violence, her third album and most uncompromising work yet. Written in the wake of leaving a long-term relationship, a major label deal, and a city that stifled her creativity, the album is raw proof of what happens when an artist seizes full control. It captures the chaos, clarity, and catharsis of starting over while expanding the singular space King Princess has carved in modern pop since her platinum-certified breakthrough “1950.”

Made with Jake Portrait (Lil Yachty, Alex G, Unknown Mortal Orchestra) and Aire Atlantica (SZA’s “Low”), Girl Violence is the sound of Mikaela Straus piecing herself back together. She stepped away from the spotlight, broke ties with the system, moved, and ultimately returned home to New York City. That journey sharpened her resolve, giving her the agency to fight the misconceptions around her and create the album she always knew she could. Straus is no longer underestimated; she’s weaponized the chip on her shoulder and put it directly into the music.

The lead single “RIP KP” sets the tone. Directed by Warren Fu, the video drops King Princess into her own version of hell: a surreal, erotic afterlife limbo. The track itself is one of the record’s boldest statements, her voice cracking with lust as she blurs the line between vulgar and proper. “‘RIP KP’ is about the sexy side of girl violence,” Straus says. “When love takes over your brain like a cordyceps and suddenly you’re getting fucked all over your house, acting a fool. It’s dramatic, unhinged, and a little tongue-in-cheek. I wrote it during a full ego death, leaving LA, my label, my old life, and somehow landed back in NYC making the music I would’ve obsessed over at 15. It’s a slutty anthem for the lesbians. We need debauchery this summer.”

Girl Violence is a portrait of an artist burning everything down to build herself back stronger. For King Princess, the destruction is the point.
