Katie Pruitt explores love, loss and impermanence on Fools For The Fleeting, a deeply personal collection featuring Nolan Taylor and Sierra Hull.
On Fools For The Fleeting, Katie Pruitt turns her attention to the things we can’t hold onto forever, exploring change, loss, uncertainty and the search for meaning in a world that rarely stands still.
The follow-up to 2024’s Mantras, the 10-song album draws on heartbreak, grief and both personal and existential crises, with Pruitt examining how we keep moving forward when everything around us seems to be changing. Nature emerges as a recurring touchstone throughout the record, reflecting the emotional shifts taking place within the songs and reinforcing one of its central ideas: learning to accept what we can’t control while remaining present for what we can.
Among the album’s standouts is “Blackout,” featuring Nolan Taylor, while “Orion’s Belt” brings Sierra Hull into the fold. Songs including “The Aftermath,” “Little Boxes,” “Not Scared To Die” and the title track further explore Pruitt’s balance of vulnerability and resolve, carried by the expressive songwriting and powerful vocals that have defined her work since her 2020 debut, Expectations.
Produced by Isaiah Beard, Fools For The Fleeting captures Katie Pruitt wrestling with impermanence without pretending to have all the answers. Instead, she finds something worth holding onto in nature, community, connection and simply being present.
