The Bristol duo may be selling out shows and building an increasingly devoted audience, but their rise came through years of saying yes to practically every gig that came their way. That included sparse opening slots, out-of-town dives and, most memorably, their first show overseas: a leaky barn in the French commune of La Zad where the audience apparently consisted of one man facing away from the stage smoking a bong. And a dog.

Rather than killing their enthusiasm, the experience became something of a guiding principle. If they could have fun playing to that "crowd," they figured they could have fun anywhere. That attitude has followed Getdown Services ever since, helping turn their shows into sweaty, unpredictable celebrations where the line between band and audience can quickly disappear.
