Renowned actor Damian Lewis embarks on a musical journey with his latest venture, Mission Creep, a collection of rootsy, rock, and jazz-infused songs showcasing his deep passion for music and his innate desire to connect with others.

Star of stage and screen, most notably, Band of Brothers, Billions, and Homeland, Damian Lewis actually has a first love - making music. Lewis spent much of his early years busking and performing before finding success in the acting world. Mission Creep has been years in the making, marking a joyous return to the realm of music for the multifaceted artist.

Reflecting on the release of his debut album, Damian Lewis shares his thoughts, stating, "My album Mission Creep was written at a very particular time in my life. So sure, there are some personal, tender sounds in here, but my first real music love was '50s rock 'n' roll, and so I hope there are songs that are gonna make you wanna sing and dance too. It's rootsy and bluesy, recorded with my magnificent band who bring a jazz vibe with them, but it ain't a jazz album. It's... well... a collection of songs with a varied vibe, held together beautifully by my producer, Giacomo Smith. We're really proud of it, and we're excited to share it with the world. Am I nervous? Sure. But 'He who dares, wins, Rodney, he who dares, wins...'"

The origin story of the album traces back to Lewis' post-school days when he decided to leave behind the structured routine that had dominated his life for a decade. He took his guitar and embarked on a busking journey through continental Europe, an experience that left a lasting impact on him and is now reflected in his debut album. Although his acting career took off and consumed most of his time, Lewis always kept his connection to music alive, playing occasional gigs with scratch bands. The idea of making a record, however, only crystallized during the lockdown. With the luxury of time and space away from the demands of his acting schedule, Lewis fully immersed himself in playing and songwriting, and the creative ideas started to flow. He was transported back to the days when he played the guitar every day, but this time with the added maturity and wisdom that life's adventures have bestowed upon him. "I wanted the album to give a sense of a journey to this point," Lewis explains. "From busking till now."

Lewis joined forces with the exceptional jazz musician Giacomo Smith, who introduced him to a remarkable group of players, many of whom had previously played with Smith in the highly regarded Kansas Smitty's House Band. Together, they formed Lewis' band, and early shows at London's Omeara and KOKO venues provided him with a glimpse of the exhilarating experience of leading a band in front of a live audience. "It helps that the players are all insanely accomplished," Lewis concludes.

Mission Creep encapsulates Damian Lewis' artistic evolution and his genuine passion for music. The album serves as a testament to his musical journey, showcasing his growth and the powerful bond he has formed with his bandmates. With Mission Creep, Lewis ventures into uncharted territory, delivering a collection of songs that transcend genres and leave a lasting impact on listeners.

And speaking of "ventures," if the whole venture capitalist thing doesn't work out for Bobby Axelrod this season, he always has his music gig to fall back on!
