Post-grunge paragons, Candlebox bid a mighty farewell with The Long Goodbye, their final salute to three decades of rock.

After a remarkable three-decade journey through the ups and downs of rock 'n' roll, Candlebox wave goodbye with what they say is their final album, aptly named The Long Goodbye. But it’s more than just an album, it's a testament to a band that navigated a through an important era in music and emerged not only successful, but relevant.

The album's lead single, "Punks," serves as a cautionary anthem for emerging bands, warning them that the spotlight of newness won't last forever. The track charges forward with a fierce guitar riff and rapid-fire drums while Kevin Martin's vocals channel the realities of fleeting fame and superficial trends. In the moody and atmospheric "Elegante," Kevin delves into creative wordplay, cleverly rhyming the song’s title with the poet Dante, while the band and producer Don Miggs weave a synth-pop ambiance using guitars and drums.

According to the band, the choice to lead with "Punks" as the album's first single was an “obvious choice” for them. They wanted to bring back a bit of that early Candlebox rock 'n' roll bait to get you hooked, like you were the first time you heard “Far Behind” from their debut.

The band's message to their devoted fans is candid and sincere. "Adam, BJ, Brian, Island, and I are all super excited for everyone to hear this record. We pushed ourselves creatively as far as our hearts and souls would let us, and created something that we’re incredibly excited about and very proud of. Can’t wait for the world to hear The Long Goodbye, the final chapter in a long and illustrious career. One last album, on one last tour, to wrap up 30 years of rock ‘n’ roll with a nice little bow."

Candlebox emerged during the '90s grunge explosion, standing out from their peers with a sound that was distinctly urgent, melodic, and vibrant. While rooted in Seattle, the band's music defied the prevailing dark and shadowy grunge atmosphere, showcasing a more luminous musical identity. Launching with their self-titled debut album in 1993, Candlebox made waves in a sea of Nirvana and Pearl Jam wannabes. Their approach was unique, characterized by lyrically rich melodies and memorable hooks that fueled massive hits like "Far Behind," "You," and "Cover Me." Their follow-up album, Lucy, reached platinum status, firmly establishing them in the thriving alt-rock scene of the time. Although their first album's commercial triumph played a significant role in their ascent, Candlebox solidified their reputation through emotionally raw live performances. Following a self-imposed hiatus after 1998's Happy Pills, they returned in 2008 with Into The Sun and never looked back. Now, after their 30-year odyssey, Candlebox bid farewell with The Long Goodbye, their final chapter in the book of rock history.
