Twenty years after Bob Seger ended an 11-year studio absence with Face The Promise, the landmark 2006 album gets a fresh look with a newly remastered and expanded edition. Face The Promise (Expanded Edition) adds four bonus tracks and, remarkably, brings the album to vinyl for the very first time.

When Face The Promise originally arrived on September 12, 2006, Seger hadn't released a studio album since 1995's It's A Mystery. Any questions about whether his audience was still waiting were quickly answered. The album debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, giving Seger his highest chart debut to that point, and it was certified Platinum just three months later.

Two decades later, the record still sounds unmistakably Seger. "Wreck This Heart" opens with the kind of muscular rock and roll that had long been his calling card, while "Wait For Me" shows the warmer, reflective side of his songwriting. Elsewhere, the title track, "Simplicity," "No More" and "The Long Goodbye" find Seger writing about time, relationships and the choices that accumulate over a lifetime. The album also features two notable collaborations: Kid Rock joins him on "Real Mean Bottle," while country great Patty Loveless shares vocals on "The Answer's In The Question."

The expanded edition adds four tracks to the original 12-song album: "Time," "Little Jane," "Red Eye To Memphis" and "Let Me Try." Together they add another chapter to the Face The Promise sessions while giving fans something genuinely new to discover alongside the remastered album.

Longtime Seger mastering engineer Robert Vosgien handled the new remaster, and the 16-track collection is available on CD, digitally and as a two-LP set. The vinyl edition comes in a gatefold jacket with a 12-page LP-sized booklet, finally filling one of the few remaining holes in Seger's vinyl catalog.

Face The Promise arrived at a fascinating point in Seger's career. He was already firmly established as one of American rock's defining voices, yet the album proved there was still a sizable audience eager to hear new music from him. Twenty years later, Face The Promise (Expanded Edition) gives that album another well-deserved return to the spotlight, with four additional songs and the vinyl release fans have been waiting two decades to put on their turntables.
