With a rare mix of wood flute, guitar, and cello, Black Cedar’s debut album presents two new commissions by American composers - Durwynne Hsieh’s Miscellaneous Music and Garrett Shatzer’s Of Emblems – plus hidden gems in American composer Nathan Kolosko’s Hungarian Trio and German composer Klaus Hinrich Stahmer’s Debussyana. Black Cedar has won awards from the San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music and the Zellerbach Family Foundation. The Santa Cruz Sentinel writes, “Hats off to them!” The San Francisco Examiner writes, “They’ve done a wonderful job of making the case that chamber music can involve approaches to instrumentation not usually expected.”
