Beyond The Black push their symphonic metal forward on Break The Silence, blending melodic power and ethno textures while grappling with silence, connection, and inner strength.
German symphonic metal band Beyond The Black return with their sixth studio album, Break The Silence, a sweeping and thoughtful concept record that leans into melodic metal while expanding its reach with ethno influences. Framed around themes of communication, resilience, inner strength, and the growing need to reconnect in a fractured world, the album captures a band both responding to the moment and pushing their sound forward with purpose.
That sense of scale and intent has been building since the band’s 2015 debut Songs Of Love And Death, which broke into the German Top 15 and earned a Metal Hammer Award for Best Debut. Over the years, Beyond The Black have steadily refined their balance of cinematic ambition and emotional clarity, becoming one of modern symphonic metal’s most dependable and evolving forces. Break The Silence feels like the natural next step in that progression, not a reset, but a deeper exploration of what they already do well.
Tracks such as “Let There Be Rain,” “(La Vie Est Un) Cinéma,” “Ravens,” and “The Flood” examine how words, silence, and intention shape relationships and reality itself. The songwriting moves between expansive arrangements and more intimate moments, reflecting the album’s central tension between noise and quiet. It’s a multi-layered listen that mirrors the complexity of the world it’s responding to, without losing its emotional center.
The album’s collaborative spirit is reinforced by guest appearances from Chris Harms of Lord Of The Lost and Asami of LOVEBITES, whose contributions add texture without pulling focus from the band’s core identity.
Vocalist Jennifer Haben describes the album as a reflection of growth and openness: “On Break The Silence, we opened the door to new influences and collaborations. From symphonic to ethnic elements and guest artists who brought their own style into the mix, this album reflects everything we love about making music without boundaries. It’s a powerful blend of who we are and who we’re becoming.”
