Celebrating 30 years of Ruf Records and over three decades since Bernard Allison launched his career, Luther's Blues pays homage to the musical legacy of his father, Luther Allison.

Luther Allison, a legendary figure in Chicago blues and a pivotal part of the Ruf Records' history, is honored through a meticulously curated two-disc set containing 20 outstanding tracks by Bernard Allison. Each track is a composition by Luther Allison, previously released on various albums by Bernard. The selection was personally handpicked by Bernard and has been artfully remastered by Pauler Acoustics, a renowned name in the audiophile scene.

For those familiar with Bernard's live performances or recordings, it is evident how significant it is for him to preserve his father's musical heritage. Bernard has consistently fulfilled a promise made to himself and his mother, Fannie Mae Allison, to include at least one or two of his father's songs on every album. Throughout his career, he has honored this commitment by performing Luther's songs at concerts and recording them, all while infusing his unique and more rock-oriented style into the traditional blues.

Luther's Blues features 20 reinvented Luther Allison songs, representing a blues generation that followed him into the 21st century. The tracklist spans 30 years, from the mid-'90s with "Hang On" to selections from Bernard's latest studio album, Highs & Lows, released in 2022. Bernard's reinterpretations breathe new life into his late father's enduring tunes like "Bad Love," "Life Is A Bitch," and "Let's Try It Again." He intentionally choose songs that were overlooked on his father's albums, adding his own creative twist to them.

Bernard's profound impact on maintaining Luther's legacy is evident in his interpretations of classics like "Serious," a Luther Allison favorite from 1987, which Bernard performs every night and considers his father's most globally popular song.

While Luther's Blues is not the first tribute album to the great Luther Allison, its distinction lies in being a heartfelt offering from his own progeny, Bernard. As a lifelong musician who absorbed blues traditions in his Chicago youth, led the Luther Allison Band in Europe, and forged his path, Bernard has consistently created innovative sounds for a new generation while never losing sight of his musical roots.
