Becky G returns with her fifth studio album, Baraja Bendita. Across 17 tracks, she brings together the different sides of an artist who has spent much of her career moving between languages, cultures and musical styles. This time, Becky G and Rebbeca Marie Gomez are sitting at the same table, playing the same hand.

The title, which translates roughly to “blessed deck of cards,” provides the album with its central metaphor. Becky has described Baraja Bendita as being about choosing your own fate and owning your next move. After years of separating the public-facing Becky G from the woman behind her, the album allows both identities to coexist without explanation.

Created over the course of two years, Baraja Bendita moves fluidly between Spanish and English while drawing from Latin pop, urbano, electronic music and rap. It's a natural progression for an artist whose catalog has already traveled from mainstream pop to reggaeton and, more recently, the Mexican roots explored on Esquinas and Encuentros.

The first cards Becky revealed offer a good indication of the album's range. "MARATHON," featuring elkan, "EPA" and "PATRONA" each approach the dance floor from a different direction, with "PATRONA" delivering an especially confident statement of independence and control. The accompanying video, filmed in New York and directed by Pedro Artola, uses the gym as a backdrop for the discipline and work behind that confidence.

Elsewhere, titles including "CNTRL," "+PRETTY," "OASIS," "CHULA," "MAL TIEMPO," "TQM/ILY," "UNSEND," "PERREO TRISTE," "AUTOMATICO" and "GLITCH" hint at an album built around contrasts: confidence and vulnerability, romance and independence, Spanish and English, the woman fans know and the person they've only glimpsed along the way.

That duality has followed Becky G throughout a career that began when she was still a teenager and has since produced billions of streams, major pop and Latin hits and six Latin GRAMMY nominations. Baraja Bendita arrives with the perspective of someone who has essentially grown up in public and now has a much clearer idea of what she wants to reveal.
