Andrew Cushin finds the bright spots in the darkness on the stirring Love Is For Everyone, his bruised, poetic, and beautifully honest second album.

By the time most 23-year-olds are finding their footing, Andrew Cushin is already hitting his stride. The Newcastle-born troubadour returns with his sophomore album, Love Is For Everyone, a record steeped in a genuine faith in humanity and glimmers of hope, all grounded by the streets that raised him.

Produced by Gareth Nuttall, the album’s title track serves as both its emotional core and spiritual statement. “Love Is For Everyone” isn’t just a song, it’s the goal. Cushin’s brand of working-class romanticism echoes with the same wide-eyed sincerity that once made Northern Britain the epicenter of Britpop. But this isn’t a rehash of that scene, it’s a refresh. Cushin doesn’t wear his influences on his sleeve so much as he changes them into something altogether new. And yes, that’s Noel Gallagher you hear about in his story, and in his sound. The Oasis legend not only sang Cushin’s praises early on but produced and played guitar on 2020’s bruising “Where’s My Family Gone.” That kind of co-sign can crush a career or crystallize it. For Cushin, it did the latter.

“I just write about what I see,” Cushin said in an earlier interview. That modesty belies the sharp eye and poetic honesty laced through his lyrics, with songs about addiction, broken homes, and inner demons, but also friendship, hope, and love that cuts through the fog. If 2023’s Waiting For The Rain was Cushin stepping out from the shadows, Love Is For Everyone is him walking straight into the light.

His working-class upbringing in Newcastle remains central to the story. Not just as a backdrop, but as a lifeblood. His city has claimed him, and you get the feeling he wears that proudly. With this second album, he’s not only chasing fame, he’s chasing truth. And in the process, he’s becoming a voice for a new generation of British songwriters who still believe in the power of melody, message, and a well-placed guitar riff. Andrew Cushin might be young, but he writes like he’s seen more than someone his age should have. Love Is For Everyone proves he’s in it for the long haul, and for the right reasons.
