Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada’s Absolute Losers are back with In The Crowd. The album marks a turning point for the trio, recorded at Toronto’s Palace Sound with producer Graham Walsh of Holy Fuck. Known for his dynamic studio approach, Walsh pushed the band into marathon sessions that unlocked a sound both bigger and more emotionally layered than their debut.

Where their 2023 Music PEI Award-winning At The Mall was born in a lockdown bedroom, In The Crowd finds the group fully immersed in a collaborative studio setting. Walsh not only produced but also engineered and mixed the record, shaping a sharper, more expansive vision for the band. The result is an album that doesn’t shy away from boldness while keeping the spirited immediacy that first won them fans.

Critics have already taken notice. Disco Mag praised the band’s “simple and spirited rock’n’roll” and their uncanny ability to channel the post-punk urgency of the late seventies. Radio Trails called their single “At The Same Time” a “quintessential power-pop anthem built to jam out to,” noting the band’s willingness to embrace bright pop hooks without hesitation.

The Absolute Losers are made up of brothers Sam and Josh Langille with their longtime friend Daniel Hartinger. Their wiry guitar interplay, casual vocals, and tightly wound rhythm section quickly made a mark when At The Mall climbed campus radio charts and landed them a spot on CBC’s Q with Tom Power. In 2024 they were named New Artist of the Year at the Music PEI Awards, furthering their reputation as one of the region’s most exciting new acts.

Onstage, Absolute Losers have earned a reputation for air-tight, high-energy shows. They’ve shared bills with TUNS, Daniel Romano’s Outfit, Skydiggers, and Holy Fuck, while playing standout sets at festivals including Dawson City, Hillside, Sappyfest, and SOMMO. That live intensity now courses through In The Crowd, where sharp, straight-to-the-point pop songwriting meets raw edge and urgency.
