Loose The Funk: Rare Soul From Sound Stage 7 Records

Various - Loose The Funk: Rare Soul From Sound Stage 7 Records

As one of the most popular R&B disc jockeys in the country for decades over Nashville’s 50,000-watt clear channel WLAC radio, John Richbourg (John R to his legion of loyal listeners) knew precisely what was selling during the 1960s and 1970s. He knew how to produce hits too. As the primary source for output on the Sound Stage 7 label (and later on his own Seventy 7 and Sound Plus imprints), Richbourg supervised an incredible amount of splendid Southern soul. Here are 20 rare and forgotten soul classics from the legendary Sound Stage 7 Label, re-mastered from the original tapes.
